Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services, RESTful APIs, and enterprise integration components for secure, scalable healthcare applications.
- Lead technical implementation involving business logic, data processing, error handling, system integrations, and platform standards.
- Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote maintainability, reliability, security, and performance best practices.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, defect remediation, production support, monitoring, logging, and observability across multiple environments.
- Contribute to technical design reviews, estimates, release planning, documentation, refactoring, reusable components, and technical debt reduction.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, QA, DevSecOps, and cross-functional teams on testability, deployment readiness, and operational resilience.
- Support Agile sprint, increment, and release commitments across multiple projects and initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, though equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least 8 years of experience in backend engineering, enterprise application development, or software engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
- Experience with SQL, relational database design, and backend data integration patterns.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, secure application development, and enterprise security practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, production support, and Agile software delivery.
- Ability to lead technical implementation efforts, mentor less-experienced developers, and collaborate across technical teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance; U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a background check are required.
- Preferred qualifications include federal healthcare or Department of Veterans Affairs experience, InterSystems IRIS, FHIR APIs, healthcare interoperability, containerized deployments, AWS, platform modernization, relevant certifications, and high-availability or high-volume enterprise systems experience.
- Candidate must reside within the continental United States.
