Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy global and local path-planning, trajectory-optimization, and multi-agent coordination algorithms.
- Build real-time replanning capabilities that respond safely to changing mission conditions, threats, and vehicle states.
- Design high-performance, concurrent software for command-and-control systems, mission-planning tools, autonomous tasking, and fleet routing services.
- Implement planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems for dynamic and uncertain environments.
- Analyze planner performance with high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques.
- Develop algorithms for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, obstacle avoidance, and threat avoidance.
- Integrate path-planning technologies into the command-and-control software lifecycle from requirements through testing and optimization.
- Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues, operators, and end users.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in algorithm design, software development, and mathematical modeling, with programming expertise in C/C++ and/or Rust.
- Strong knowledge of graph-based search including A* and D* Lite, sampling-based planners including RRT, RRT*, and PRM, and online or real-time replanning.
- Demonstrated experience with guidance, navigation, and control; trajectory optimization or prediction; or predictive models for vehicle dynamics and weapon-system effectiveness.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, and control theory for autonomous ground, air, or maritime platforms.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, state estimation, and large-scale geospatial and environmental data in distributed command-and-control architectures.
- Exposure to machine learning for planning and decision-making, including reinforcement learning, learned heuristics, and behavior prediction.
- Ability to write robust concurrent code and take systems from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Rust experience and experience extending mixed greenfield and brownfield planning or routing codebases are preferred.
