Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality, scalable, responsive software for Box’s Notes and Canvas products.
- Build primarily frontend functionality with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, while contributing to Node.js backend services.
- Design and implement APIs and services using sound system design and data modeling practices.
- Create technical documentation, reusable patterns, examples, and engineering standards for product teams.
- Use AI tools such as Claude and Cursor for development, research, documentation, and bug triage while maintaining quality and security.
- Maintain legacy codebases and participate in engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to and triage production issues.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience.
- Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework such as React.
- Strong HTML/CSS knowledge and experience building responsive user interfaces, including state management, accessibility, performance, and security basics.
- Some backend coding experience with Node.js; strong proficiency is advantageous.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs and services, with a solid understanding of system design and data modeling.
- Ability to design, build, and deploy high-quality software.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and object-oriented programming.
- Passion for new technologies, ownership mentality, technical excellence, strong collaboration, and English proficiency.
- Preferred: experience with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, web sockets, real-time applications, or cross-platform solutions.
