Responsibilities
- Architect and ship production agentic AI systems, including multi-agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, and evaluation infrastructure.
- Set reusable technical standards for orchestration frameworks, structured-output contracts, and evaluation methodology across engineering pods.
- Own architecture and build-versus-buy decisions and communicate them to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including CFOs and PE operators.
- Build and evolve firm-wide observability and evaluation infrastructure for production AI quality.
- Mentor and technically develop engineers through architecture reviews, paired work, and code review.
- Travel to client sites as needed to scope, present, and support delivered systems.
- At Senior Staff or Executive Director levels, represent the AI Lab’s technical direction in cross-practice and client-executive discussions and identify new capabilities to build.
Requirements
- Demonstrated technical ownership of a production agentic AI system with real users or clients; demos, notebooks, and unshipped proofs of concept do not qualify.
- Deep fluency in multi-agent orchestration, RAG, tool use, structured output, evaluation, and observability, including informed trade-off judgments.
- Strong Python and TypeScript/React fundamentals.
- Experience translating ambiguous client requirements into shipped systems on compressed timelines, ideally in consulting, professional services, or boutique AI consulting.
- Daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent, with a clear perspective on their appropriate use.
- Ability to set technical direction beyond the immediate team and defend it to skeptical stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include finance or private equity domain experience, public technical work such as GitHub or open-source contributions, multi-tenant platform experience, and formal mentoring or development of senior engineers.
Benefits
- Hybrid work arrangement with flexibility to work remotely two days per week; candidates should ideally be local to their preferred US office location.
- Role may require travel to client sites as needed.
- Benefits are provided, with compensation also including a significant bonus.
