Responsibilities
- Build and improve backend services, APIs, and integrations with mentorship from experienced engineers.
- Contribute production changes to TypeScript and Node.js services, including AWS Lambda-based workflows.
- Write and improve automated tests and investigate and resolve staging or production issues.
- Use AI development tools responsibly while validating code, tests, and behavior before release.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, and CX on requirements and user-facing impact.
- Document technical learnings and contribute improvements to developer experience and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related post-secondary program and available for the full 8-month term.
- Foundational experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, Node.js, and API development through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Some familiarity with cloud services, serverless systems, or Infrastructure as Code is helpful but not required.
- Evidence of designing, building, or maintaining software through a GitHub profile, portfolio, or course project.
- Interest in responsible AI development tools, testing, code quality, and security.
- Clear communication, a learning mindset, and enthusiasm for Bree’s mission.
