Base Salary
$213k - $263k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop advanced AI/ML infrastructure for multi-billion-parameter foundation models used in realistic simulations.
- Provide technical leadership on large-scale ML model architectures, especially for autonomous vehicle models.
- Own complex systems and drive architectures that meet technical and business objectives.
- Design and scale distributed systems supporting planet-scale dataset generation and model training across the ML lifecycle.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define performance and system-level requirements and translate business goals into measurable technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with Google DeepMind and Waymo realism-modeling teams to use large models to improve simulation realism.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
Requirements
- A BS in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years developing, scaling, training, deploying, or optimizing large-scale machine learning systems.
- Preferred: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in machine learning infrastructure.
- Experience with machine learning infrastructure tools such as DeepSpeed, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar frameworks.
- Strong expertise in distributed training, gradient sharding, optimization strategies, and ML accelerator profiling.
- Deep understanding of state-of-the-art machine learning models such as autoregressive transformers and familiarity with custom kernels for hardware-compute efficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Practical familiarity with autonomous driving, simulations, and ML accelerators is preferred.
