Base Salary

$102k - $219k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual and monitor critical services for degradation.
  • Respond to production incidents within SLA timeframes and coordinate with stakeholders during outages.
  • Build new services and contribute to partner-team codebases across Microsoft.
  • Develop automation for production deployment and operations and reduce operational toil.
  • Run code in test environments and validate deployment functionality.
  • Ensure processes meet security, privacy, safety, accessibility, and compliance standards.
  • Collect, classify, and analyze system health, performance, and reliability metrics.
  • Design and build scalable, maintainable, observable, and resilient software systems.
  • Improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance in airgapped environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, program management, security, and data teams across Microsoft.
  • Share knowledge and mentor teammates while contributing to team capability growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI access based on an SSBI with polygraph.
  • Ability to pass Microsoft, customer, and government security screenings, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
  • U.S. citizenship verification is required due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
  • Preferred: master’s degree plus 2+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: full-stack development experience with modern frameworks and cloud-native architectures.
  • Preferred: strong understanding of Azure DevOps and Git/GitHub workflows.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of hands-on Windows or Linux system administration experience.
  • Preferred: experience supporting large-scale production services with a focus on reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Preferred: expertise in logging, monitoring, alerting, service-health measurement, debugging, scripting, and maintainable tested code.
  • Preferred: experience with 24x7 on-call responsibilities, incident response, partner codebases, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Preferred: strong communication skills, self-directed learning, and the ability to work in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Benefits

  • Base pay is listed at USD $102,100–$202,200 per year across the U.S., with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
