Base Salary
$102k - $219k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own reliability for critical services as a Designated Responsible Individual by monitoring systems, responding to incidents within SLA timeframes, and coordinating outage response.
- Build new services and contribute to partner team codebases across Microsoft.
- Develop automation for production deployment and operations, validate code in test environments, and reduce operational toil.
- Apply security, privacy, safety, accessibility, and compliance requirements to engineering processes and technology decisions.
- Collect and analyze system health, performance, and reliability metrics to guide engineering priorities.
- Build scalable, maintainable, observable, and resilient software for demanding customer environments.
- Collaborate with engineering, program management, security, data, and partner teams across Microsoft.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call responsibilities and continuously improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI access based on an SSBI with polygraph is required.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements before and after hire is required.
- U.S. citizenship verification is required due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience includes full-stack development, modern frameworks, cloud-native architectures, Azure DevOps, Git/GitHub workflows, Windows or Linux system administration, and deep debugging across the stack.
- Preferred experience includes supporting large-scale production services, reliability engineering, observability, logging, monitoring, alerting, service-health measurement, and incident response.
- Preferred qualifications include scripting, maintainable and well-tested code, partner codebase contributions, cross-disciplinary collaboration, strong communication, and self-directed learning.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is $102,100-$202,200 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position requires 24x7 on-call responsibilities and ongoing security clearance and background-check compliance.
