Responsibilities
- Drive the overall architecture for Mastercard’s Merchant Acceptance Program using microservices-based and cloud-native design principles.
- Design enterprise-grade APIs, technical blueprints, and service descriptions following Mastercard best practices.
- Incorporate high availability, resiliency, performance, and capacity into globally scaled payment solutions.
- Partner with technical and product leaders, development teams, operations, service architects, and product owners to deliver architectural designs.
- Review implementations for architectural alignment and represent the program as its primary architect and technical advocate.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams and service architects.
- Build prototypes and collaborate with Architecture & Technology teams on global-scale, on-premises and cloud deployment scenarios.
- Follow information security policies, protect confidentiality and integrity, report suspected breaches, and complete required security training.
Requirements
- More than 12 years of product engineering experience designing scalable software solutions.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and extensive experience with microservices architecture, web applications, and system design.
- Demonstrated experience with containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native technologies, and global-scale high-transaction-volume financial or payment systems.
- Extensive experience designing and building backend microservices using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, messaging, and persistence systems.
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL or SQL Server and their use at massive scale.
- Deep experience with Azure, AWS, automated testing, Git, and continuous delivery.
- Experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks such as Angular or React is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong collaboration, communication, mentorship, self-direction, and technical advocacy skills.
