Base Salary
$130k - $171k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance satellite-side file-transfer applications for satellite payloads.
- Design and implement Spire’s next-generation Rust-based file-transfer architecture.
- Build highly available, fault-tolerant, secure, observable, and performant file-transfer services.
- Perform ground-based testing and in-orbit verification of new software services.
- Coordinate with communications, systems engineering, product, internal customers, and interfacing hardware and software teams.
- Create and maintain documentation for APIs and system architectures.
- Implement observability solutions for space- and ground-based services.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Production-grade software development experience with at least one compiled language.
- Proficiency in Python or an equivalent high-level language.
- Knowledge of Linux-based development, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, AWS, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems.
- Excellent documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Preferred: proficiency in Python and Rust; experience with NIST and FAR regulatory frameworks; familiarity with cybersecurity principles and Wiz; experience operating critical highly available systems at scale; L2/L3 protocol and L3-L7 networking experience; modern AI development tooling experience; and Bash proficiency.
