Responsibilities
- Define and drive execution of the scalable, cloud-native target-state architecture for the data platform.
- Design architectural patterns for scalable, automated data ingestion.
- Build hands-on proof-of-concepts with SQL, PySpark, Serverless Python, and other platform languages.
- Drive architecture consistency, component reuse, technical-debt reduction, and data governance implementation.
- Define and enforce data-platform and infrastructure security standards.
- Partner with Product Management on application analytics strategy and domain alignment.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, open-source solutions, and third-party applications.
- Ensure high availability, low latency, and minimal service outages through system and infrastructure architecture.
- Mentor engineering teams, promote architectural best practices, and support developer enablement.
- Contribute to AI-powered agentic development capabilities involving the data platform, data transformation, and analytics.
Requirements
- Extensive experience driving architecture and design decisions for cloud data platforms in software-centric organizations.
- Strong data modeling and data governance experience.
- Strong Databricks experience or experience with another Spark-based lakehouse platform.
- Hands-on expertise developing solutions with SQL and PySpark and working with the modern data stack.
- Experience using agentic AI in the software development lifecycle and GenAI for data analysis workloads.
- Experience designing data schemas for analytics and reporting consumption.
- Ability to evaluate qualitative and quantitative data, assess total cost of ownership, and make technology trade-off decisions.
- Strong communication, technical leadership, cross-functional influence, and complex problem-solving skills.
- Focused experience in security and access control, cloud operations and infrastructure, or third-party integrations.
- At least 15 years of experience in the software industry, including at least 3 years in an architecture position.
- Preferred experience architecting on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Preferred experience developing and supporting serverless workloads on a public cloud platform.
- Preferred knowledge of infrastructure security protocols, data privacy compliance, and access control frameworks.
- Preferred involvement in developer enablement, engineering mentorship, and continuous integration/continuous delivery practices.
