Base Salary
$114k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex Android applications and shared mobile platform components, including SDKs, libraries, and tooling.
- Define Android architecture standards using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, MVVM/MVI, and modularization.
- Own large initiatives from concept through production, including technical strategy, build optimization, observability, release management, and maintenance.
- Partner with backend teams on mobile APIs and offline-first solutions.
- Lead Lingo’s migration from React Native to native Android, including migration sequencing, bridging, feature parity, and stability.
- Improve application performance, reliability, crash-free sessions, startup time, and ANRs.
- Champion automated testing, code quality, secure mobile development, crash analytics, and performance monitoring.
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and influence technical decisions across mobile, backend, and product teams.
- Integrate on-device and cloud-powered AI/ML capabilities into Android applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience with strong Android development expertise.
- Deep proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, with Jetpack Compose preferred.
- Working knowledge of React Native sufficient to assess existing code, plan a native migration, and bridge React Native with native modules.
- Strong experience with mobile architecture patterns, modularization, and large-scale application development.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Gradle optimization, mobile observability tools, API design, performance tuning, and secure mobile development.
- Proven technical leadership and cross-team influence, along with strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Preferred experience leading or contributing to a React Native-to-native production migration.
- Preferred experience in consumer health, digital health, regulated industries, GraphQL, AI/ML integration, Bluetooth Low Energy, or shared Android platform components.
