Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services in Rust, including APIs, data models, database schemas, and service-to-service integrations.
- Research and integrate cloud platforms, enterprise systems, APIs, SDKs, and related technologies.
- Own technical designs and architectural decisions for scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable capabilities.
- Take features through implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, performance testing, and ongoing support.
- Diagnose complex production issues across application, integration, database, and infrastructure layers.
- Identify and resolve backend performance, scalability, and architectural challenges.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering on requirements, trade-offs, design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Support customers and internal teams with complex technical issues and use findings to improve the product.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Rust, C++, or Go; production Rust experience is preferred.
- Experience building production backend services and microservices.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs, integrations, service-to-service communication, database schemas, data models, and application data-access layers.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, SDKs, cloud services, or enterprise platforms.
- Ability to research unfamiliar technologies, handle ambiguous requirements, and develop practical technical designs and implementation plans.
- Experience diagnosing performance, scalability, and complex multi-component production issues.
- Experience owning software through design, implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and ongoing support.
- Experience collaborating effectively with Product Management and distributed engineering teams.
- Helpful experience includes Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native deployments, AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, cybersecurity, cryptography, key management, certificate management, observability, and high-growth products.
