Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable Node.js and TypeScript backend services, RESTful APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines for real-time and batch workloads.
- Architect and optimize Postgres schemas, queries, indexes, transactions, connection pooling, and data integrity.
- Implement low-latency WebSocket chat and WebRTC audio/video infrastructure.
- Integrate LLM, payment, reservation, SMS, push notification, and CDN services with robust error handling and monitoring.
- Build APIs and data pipelines supporting model predictions, training data collection, and experimentation workflows.
- Own infrastructure, deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, observability, and cloud cost optimization.
- Design caching and performance strategies that support 10x growth without rewrites.
- Build matching, messaging, notification, analytics, payment, reservation, and conversational infrastructure with reliability and idempotency guarantees.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience building production backend systems, ideally for consumer products, high-traffic applications, or startups.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, including asynchronous patterns, performance optimization, and error handling.
- Expert-level Postgres knowledge covering complex queries, transactions, indexing, connection pooling, and performance tuning.
- Experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs with rate limiting, authentication, caching, and versioning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP cloud services across compute, storage, databases, and networking.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with WebSockets and WebRTC for real-time communication systems.
- Strong understanding of observability and monitoring practices including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Awareness of security, data privacy, and compliance as core engineering concerns.
