Responsibilities
- Certify GN&C system requirements compliance by reviewing analysis and test reports, including sensor performance and trajectory dispersion assessments.
- Certify fault-tolerance safety requirements through review of hazard reports and verification evidence and communicate issues to a Safety Review Panel.
- Identify and recommend solutions to GN&C and rendezvous/proximity-operations performance issues.
- Communicate compliance-review status to ISS program management.
- Conduct performance assessments of visiting-vehicle GN&C data for program compliance.
- Review Monte Carlo trajectory analyses using independent six-degrees-of-freedom simulations.
- Provide input to operational products such as flight rules and on-orbit demonstration plans.
- Provide visiting-vehicle GN&C mission-console support during real-time ground monitoring.
- Coordinate with engineering, safety, flight operations, crew-office, and visiting-vehicle personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school and five years of related engineering experience, or a master’s degree and four years of related experience, or a Ph.D. and zero years of related experience.
- Experience with orbital mechanics, GN&C principles, spacecraft system analysis, and GN&C algorithm development.
- Experience designing, verifying, testing, and operating GN&C hardware and software.
- Experience developing space-system requirements and technical documents.
- Experience with Linux, Python, and C/C++.
- Strong communication, documentation, presentation, collaboration, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work with NASA civil servants and contractor employees.
- Preferred: master’s degree in aerospace engineering focused on GN&C, flight controls, or orbital mechanics.
- Preferred: spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, capture/docking, NASA flight operations, NASA/JSC/ISS standards, MATLAB, Simulink, NASA Trick, JEOD, Git, and GitLab experience.
