Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Heidi’s deterministic automation engine for EHRs without native integrations.
- Build UI-automation flows across web and desktop systems using accessibility-tree mapping, templated field entry, and structured write-back.
- Implement patient-matching and validation logic to ensure data reaches the correct patient record.
- Prototype with AI-assisted tools and harden successful approaches into production-grade code.
- Embed with health systems and IT teams during live deployments to map workflows and deliver automations quickly.
- Engineer work queues, retries, idempotency, exception handling, instrumentation, and reliability tooling.
- Harden automations against UI drift and edge cases and help determine when to use automation versus native integrations.
- Own documentation and tooling that enable engineers to extend the engine to additional EHRs.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to build tools, scripts, or automations that solve real problems for users, with a portfolio, GitHub repository, or demo preferred.
- Production experience with UI automation, such as Playwright, FlaUI, or an RPA platform.
- Python as a primary programming language; C# or TypeScript experience is a bonus.
- Understanding of queues, retries, idempotency, deterministic systems, and explainable exception handling.
- Experience working with brittle, undocumented, or legacy third-party interfaces.
- Working fluency with LLM APIs and AI-assisted development, including shipped projects using these tools.
- Knowledge of data and application security, with particular care for patient data.
- Comfort working directly with customers and field teams during deployments.
- Experience with regulated, high-stakes systems such as payments, banking, or healthcare is preferred but not required.
