Responsibilities
- Design and oversee the architecture roadmap for APIs supporting live sports and Discover experiences.
- Develop, operate, and continuously improve Coupang Play’s highly available and scalable core backend systems.
- Derive scalable, low-latency technical solutions that satisfy product requirements.
- Coordinate technical solutions with cross-functional stakeholders to meet business and compliance requirements.
- Lead major projects for strategic growth areas including live sports streaming and content discovery.
- Adopt and use AI technologies to improve workflow automation, developer productivity, and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, plus at least two years of experience with server applications and systems engineering using modern programming languages.
- Deep expertise in building low-latency, high-throughput systems, performance profiling, and optimizing cost-performance tradeoffs.
- Proficiency in backend engineering with at least one of Go, Java, JavaScript, or Node.js.
- Strong understanding of and practical experience with modern cloud computing environments such as AWS or GCP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: commercial experience building and operating video streaming services and related data systems.
- Preferred: experience integrating mobile apps and APIs with iOS and Android developers and resolving integration issues.
- Preferred: experience using and operating GraphQL.
- Preferred: business-level English communication skills in speaking and writing.
