Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of complex AI/ML systems from research through production.
- Build and evolve scalable ML platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure for repeatable model development and deployment.
- Define AI architecture, engineering standards, responsible AI practices, and long-term technical direction.
- Design and ship production agentic systems, RAG pipelines, evaluation capabilities, and observability solutions.
- Partner with product, engineering, and leadership to align AI strategy with business outcomes.
- Lead design reviews, communicate AI tradeoffs and risks, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Own ambiguous, high-stakes work while optimizing reliability, cost, scalability, and safety.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 4+ years focused on AI/ML systems in production.
- Expert software development experience with Python or a similar language and scalable system design.
- Deep expertise with cloud platforms, AWS services, and AWS generative AI offerings.
- Proven experience designing and shipping complex agentic systems in production.
- Mastery of AI frameworks, orchestration tools, LLM evaluation frameworks, and observability tools.
- Deep understanding of AI safety, responsible AI, prompt-injection defenses, and PII handling.
- Extensive experience building RAG pipelines involving chunking, embedding models, vector databases, and advanced retrieval.
- Experience designing and integrating internal and third-party APIs at scale.
- Advanced expertise in token economics, caching, model routing, quantization, and AI cost optimization.
- Strong working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
- Expert day-to-day usage of Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI-forward coding tools.
Benefits
- Salary range of CAD $170,000-$234,000.
