Base Salary
$160k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, resilient microservices and APIs for Bloomberg’s next-generation analytics platform.
- Solve distributed-systems challenges at multi-billion-request-per-day scale by optimizing latency, throughput, and resource efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, data providers, and client applications to improve data flows across Bloomberg.
- Build tooling, frameworks, and AI-driven automation that improve developer productivity and operations.
- Deliver reliable, observable, production-quality software through testing and operational excellence.
- Own projects end-to-end, define success criteria, drive execution, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience, ideally with Modern C++ or Python.
- Strong system-design and distributed-systems fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience building production-grade data infrastructure or distributed services.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Preferred experience includes Apache Arrow, Project Reactor, Apache Kafka, reactive or asynchronous applications, performance profiling and benchmarking, Linux systems programming, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, and applying AI/ML techniques to engineering challenges.
