
Field Solutions Architect - Pre Sales

Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical sales strategy for strategic customer engagements from discovery through solution design, demonstrations, validation, and close support.
- Conduct customer discovery, define requirements and success criteria, and architect practical solutions for observability, resilience, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Design and execute complex Proof of Concept and Proof of Value engagements, including integrations, technical validation, and adoption-readiness assessments.
- Demonstrate AI-assisted workflows, intelligent operations, and data-driven decision support for IT operations and observability use cases.
- Use scripting and automation to build prototypes, integrations, technical validations, and lightweight production-oriented workflows.
- Perform hands-on whiteboarding, prototyping, troubleshooting, configuration, and solution delivery in customer environments.
- Advise customers and internal teams throughout the sales cycle and capture field feedback to influence product direction and enablement.
- Maintain expertise across the SolarWinds portfolio, mentor peers, enable partners and sales teams, and support transitions to Customer Success, Services, and Renewals.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, solutions architecture, technology consulting, software engineering, or a related role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years in a dedicated customer-facing technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, solutions architecture, forward-deployed, or technical consulting role.
- Experience owning technical strategy for complex sales opportunities from discovery through validation and close support.
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience with one or more of Python, PowerShell, Bash, or API-based integrations.
- Understanding of observability, IT operations, infrastructure monitoring, hybrid IT, automation, incident response, or related operational technologies.
- Working knowledge of AI-focused technology trends and the ability to translate them into practical customer and IT operations use cases.
- Experience moving from customer problem discovery through prototyping, validation, and solution refinement in ambiguous environments.
- Strong technical depth, sales acumen, customer engagement, communication, presentation, analytical, reasoning, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid or distributed architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferred qualifications include enterprise or strategic customer experience, observability or IT operations experience, RFI/RFP/RFx experience, automation or infrastructure-as-code experience, relevant AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, networking, security, automation, or SolarWinds certifications, and mentoring experience.
