Base Salary
$113k - $183k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Java applications, microservices, and APIs for the Caterpillar MineStar ecosystem.
- Lead AI-assisted delivery initiatives by coordinating agentic workflows for requirements, design, implementation, testing, documentation, code review, defect triage, and production support.
- Validate AI-generated code and artifacts against requirements, architecture standards, secure coding practices, quality expectations, and production-readiness criteria.
- Contribute to architecture, technical decisions, design artifacts, quality gates, governance, observability, reliability, and secure software practices.
- Deliver features through the full software development lifecycle, including refinement, estimation, implementation, testing, release, and operational support.
- Monitor services, troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Create reusable prompts, skills, templates, playbooks, and agentic AI delivery patterns for other MineStar teams.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, coaching, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant commercial software development experience.
- Substantial hands-on Java development experience using Spring and Spring Boot.
- Experience with microservices, distributed architecture, APIs, modern database technologies, secure coding, and resilient service design.
- Experience with build, testing, dependency management, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling.
- Experience providing technical leadership within a multidisciplinary software delivery team.
- Experience with production operations, incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and sustainable remediation.
- Strong analytical, architectural, design, problem-solving, communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Practical experience with AI-enabled development tools, agentic workflows, AI orchestration, prompt engineering, responsible AI, and human-in-the-loop validation is strongly preferred.
- Experience creating reusable agentic AI patterns, prompts, skills, templates, and playbooks is preferred.
