Responsibilities
- Own long-term technical architecture and make build-versus-buy decisions for systems scaling by 10x.
- Design and build core infrastructure services and microservices supporting machine learning, frontend, and platform teams.
- Write high-performance, maintainable, production-grade code across the stack using technologies including Kubernetes, Python, Golang, and PostgreSQL.
- Drive distributed-systems performance, scalability, latency, optimization, monitoring, reliability, and infrastructure cost outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver business-critical outcomes and align architecture with business goals.
- Mentor senior engineers, promote engineering excellence, and identify and resolve critical system and business gaps.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated progression into a Principal or Senior Staff Engineer capacity at a high-growth technology company or top-tier AI lab.
- Strong hands-on coding ability, design thinking, and experience making both code-level execution and system-level architecture decisions.
- Proficiency in a programming language with the ability to adapt; experience with Kubernetes, Python, Golang, PostgreSQL, and data lakes is preferred.
- Proven distributed-systems experience involving performance, scalability, latency, optimization, and monitoring.
- Ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes such as latency improvements, margin efficiency, and rapid product launches.
- Self-driven, high-ownership approach with the ability to identify gaps, propose solutions, align stakeholders, and execute at startup pace.
- Experience leveraging, integrating, or evaluating AI tools and workflows in engineering processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
