Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administration, maintenance, support, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, installation, and performance analysis for Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022 databases.
- Investigate database problems and performance issues, perform trend analysis, and continuously optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to automate reactive procedures and improve response to database incidents.
- Perform database code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain compliant database configurations.
- Design and develop tools, database code, backup and disaster recovery systems, and proactive performance measures.
- Monitor capacity and implement database architecture changes to improve global availability.
- Install database server upgrades and patches and establish database migration processes.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of database administration experience supporting mission-critical relational databases.
- Considerable experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later and database best practices.
- Proficiency in performance tuning, optimization, and database internals.
- Proficiency with OLTP database environments.
- Experience configuring and administering MSSQL replication, Availability Groups, and Distributed Availability Groups.
- Experience with the full systems lifecycle for database projects, from requirements gathering through delivery.
- Experience designing, building, installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining high-volume, large database systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical problem-solving, written communication, verbal communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively across time zones and independently with limited supervision.
- Experience with distributed systems OLTP/DW MPP, C#/.NET, AWS database management, OLAP, PostgreSQL, and SOX or PCI compliance programs is preferred but not required.
