Base Salary
$120k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build control-plane systems that provision, scale, and heal Postgres clusters.
- Develop high-availability, disaster-recovery, and data-protection solutions for infrastructure failures.
- Tune Postgres for large and demanding production workloads.
- Build automation and tooling for database operations, backup, restore, and migration workflows.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and support production systems.
- Work directly with customers to understand workloads and translate needs into platform improvements.
- Collaborate with and mentor other engineers while communicating technical tradeoffs clearly.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale production systems.
- Strong experience building, operating, or maintaining large-scale Postgres deployments in production.
- Strong proficiency in Go, with experience in languages such as Ruby, Python, Zig, or Rust.
- Experience building and maintaining distributed, fault-tolerant services and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Strong understanding of operating-system concepts including multithreading, memory management, networking, storage, and performance.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to reason about distributed systems.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized applications.
- Experience with distributed or remote teams and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Preferred experience with managed database platforms, Postgres connection pooling and proxy layers, AWS, GCP, Azure, infrastructure-as-code, and relevant open-source contributions.
