Base Salary
$140k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support to software developers.
- Design, build, maintain, and deploy backend platform features, shared libraries, and modules.
- Architect highly available, secure, and high-performance systems that scale to millions of users.
- Modernize authentication and API gateway architecture and improve service-to-service communication.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to define requirements and technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering standards for coding, testing, infrastructure, and documentation.
- Lead engineering improvements through tooling, processes, and adoption of new technologies.
- Monitor application performance, conduct profiling and benchmarking, and optimize systems for scale and reliability.
- Execute large-scale production migrations with zero downtime.
- Ship code regularly and own features from design through deployment.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant backend software development experience leading projects and system design, including at least 3 years in a Senior or Staff capacity.
- Strong programming skills in Python or Go.
- Experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment and with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with API gateway design, gRPC, and service-to-service communication patterns.
- Experience designing authentication and authorization systems using OAuth2, OIDC, PKCE, and JWT.
- Ability to analyze business requirements and create technical design documents aligned with architecture standards.
- Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, large-scale zero-downtime migrations, and shared libraries or SDKs used across large engineering organizations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working in Agile teams.
