Base Salary
$127k - $273k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead multi-quarter initiatives spanning AI, product, and infrastructure, including orchestration layers, retrieval systems, and unified knowledge bases.
- Define technical patterns for MCP servers, agents, LLM usage, experimentation, and scalable infrastructure.
- Architect and implement backend services powering generative AI agents, complex tax and audit workflows, and document-centric experiences.
- Build orchestration capabilities including routing, tool calling, MCP servers, multi-step workflows, safety guardrails, and error handling around third-party LLMs.
- Design high-throughput, low-latency systems with caching, queuing, rate limiting, model failover, and cost/performance optimization.
- Develop retrieval, search, vector-store, and indexing strategies for millions of documents and structured tax data.
- Establish SLOs, observability, incident response, testing, rollout, and reliability practices for AI systems.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and influence roadmap, architecture, engineering culture, and cross-functional technical strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7+ years of experience in full-stack development, scalable cloud applications, web services, APIs, and AI-driven products.
- Deep Python expertise with production experience using FastAPI or similar frameworks, PostgreSQL or equivalent relational databases, and a major cloud provider, preferably AWS.
- Strong distributed-systems background covering data modeling, API contracts, observability, resilience patterns, and performance tuning under load.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects end to end, from architecture and execution through rollout and long-term operation.
- Experience integrating LLM APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic into production applications, including prompt and response management, cost controls, and safety considerations.
- Experience with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, or custom retrieval pipelines is preferred.
- Experience with automated testing, reliability, and release practices for systems with nondeterministic model behavior is preferred.
- Experience in fintech, tax, audit, legal, or another domain where correctness, auditability, and compliance matter is preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated interest in LLMs, agents, retrieval, and AI-native software.
