Responsibilities
- Define the boundary between shared platform capabilities and individual product functionality in collaboration with product engineering teams.
- Drive ambiguous technical problems toward clear architecture and implementation decisions.
- Design, develop, and evolve scalable, high-performance frontend and backend systems and shared services.
- Lead modernization efforts, including migrating live services to managed infrastructure and replacing legacy components without disrupting production traffic.
- Set reliability standards through testing, instrumentation, monitoring, runbooks, rollback practices, and blast-radius-aware design.
- Participate in on-call, production support, and incident response for owned services.
- Optimize performance and scalability using monitoring and observability data.
- Coach engineers and promote modern software engineering and AI-assisted development practices.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to communicate and implement technical direction.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including system design, development, and testing of scalable database-driven applications.
- Strong proficiency in Go and Python with solid backend engineering fundamentals.
- Strong JavaScript experience with modern frameworks such as React or Vue, plus HTML, CSS, and build tooling knowledge.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and AWS services including EKS, Kubernetes, ElastiCache, and Redis.
- Experience with Terraform and multi-region US/EU deployments.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, including prompt design, validation, and safe use of generated code.
- Experience operating shared, multi-tenant production services, including no-downtime migrations, regional configuration parity, monitoring, detection, and rollback.
- Experience modeling identity, roles, permissions, and tenant isolation in multi-tenant products.
- Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, and observability tools such as Datadog.
- Ability to coach engineers, influence across teams, navigate ambiguity, communicate clearly, and exercise sound technical judgment.
