
Lead Data Engineering Architect

Responsibilities
- Design and build enterprise data models and lakehouse/data warehouse frameworks using Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server.
- Develop ingestion and consumption pipeline architectures for CRM, ERP, managed services, professional services, and HR source systems.
- Architect and deliver real-time and batch API integration layers across internal and external software systems.
- Establish master data schemas, integration rules, pipeline automation frameworks, technical governance, data lineage, API contracts, and data dictionary compliance.
- Evaluate source databases, SaaS APIs, and cross-departmental operations to determine storage and processing requirements.
- Implement incremental loading, schema-drift protection, query tuning, orchestration evaluation, and performance optimization practices.
- Coordinate data architecture decisions with data engineering, BI, and analytics teams and convert system blueprints into sprint tasks.
- Identify and communicate technical risks, integration bottlenecks, pipeline vulnerabilities, and architecture deployment status to IT management.
- Report operational achievements and architectural roadmaps to the Director of Data Systems and Enablement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems, or equivalent direct practical work experience.
- At least 6 years of dedicated experience in data engineering environments.
- At least 2 years of experience leading enterprise-scale pipeline and API architecture.
- Proven experience designing, building, and implementing enterprise data solutions natively within Microsoft Fabric and the broader Microsoft data stack.
- Strong understanding of API-driven data extraction, REST and SOAP web service protocols, data orchestration tools, data warehouse modeling, and cloud infrastructure patterns.
- Technical experience integrating NetSuite, Microsoft CRM, ConnectWise, Ivanti, ADP, Keka, and SharePoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain abstract data structures and API behaviors clearly.
- Strong technical documentation skills covering data lineage, API contracts, data dictionary compliance, and structural layouts.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks in a fluid, flexible hybrid/remote environment.
