Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of the Mobile Experience pod, including architecture decision records, design reviews, quality standards, and technical escalation.
- Lead the C++ Turbo Module and TypeScript boundary connecting React Native to the vehicle Secure Gateway Module over USB and DTLS.
- Guide vehicle communication features including CAN messaging, UDS diagnostics, OTA updates, DTC operations, security access, and dynamic DID mapping.
- Drive React Native application architecture and implementation across EV Charging, Service Scheduling, Vehicle Settings, and Key Management flows.
- Own server-state management, encrypted local storage, WebView integrations, push notifications, API client architecture, and JWT refresh behavior.
- Provide technical direction for the mobile backend-for-frontend, charging and scheduling integrations, authentication flows, and third-party service integrations.
- Set observability, crash reporting, performance profiling, testability, and production reliability practices for the mobile app.
- Own iOS and Android build, release, provisioning, App Store and Google Play submission, and OTA update strategies.
- Mentor SDE IIs and SDE IIIs, review pull requests, and represent mobile engineering in cross-team, vendor security, and vehicle interface discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least four years of mobile application development with iOS, Android, or React Native.
- Deep React Native expertise, including Turbo Modules, the Expo ecosystem, EAS Build, EAS Update, Expo Router, TypeScript, and state management patterns.
- Deep familiarity with C++ native module architecture in a React Native context, including diagnosing native-layer crashes and guiding design decisions.
- Experience building or maintaining backend services, REST APIs, authentication middleware, JWT lifecycles, and third-party integrations.
- Experience with CAN bus, UDS diagnostics, DID-based data polling, DTLS/TLS, serial communication, or embedded communication protocols.
- Fluency in mobile security patterns including hardware-backed key management, encrypted local storage, certificate-based device authentication, and secure WebView session injection.
- Strong CI/CD and release engineering experience with multi-environment build pipelines, OTA updates, and App Store and Google Play submissions.
- Experience with mobile observability instrumentation, production crash diagnosis, and performance profiling.
- Strongly preferred: automotive software, secure gateway architectures, vehicle certificate issuance, embedded cryptography, EV charging networks, fleet telematics, Protocol Buffers, dynamic vehicle data configuration, or scaling a mobile product from pre-GA to GA under hard date constraints.
