Responsibilities
- Develop and operate search infrastructure and platforms for Qoo10 Japan’s search services.
- Improve search accuracy and shopping experiences in a high-traffic environment.
- Solve technical challenges involving morphological analysis and large-scale distributed data processing.
- Diagnose system bottlenecks using logs and monitoring metrics and improve system architecture.
- Develop and maintain search systems using Java, Spring Framework, and open-source search engines.
- Communicate business requirements clearly with related teams including sales, marketing, and planning.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience developing and operating search systems.
- Understanding of Java and Spring Framework, with experience resolving search-system stability and performance issues.
- Experience developing services based on at least one open-source search engine: Elasticsearch, Lucene, or Solr.
- Experience independently solving complex technical problems in large-scale distributed data-processing environments.
- Ability to diagnose bottlenecks using logs and monitoring metrics and improve architecture.
- Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: experience using NLP for text mining and search-quality improvement.
- Preferred: experience improving search accuracy or recommendation quality with machine-learning or deep-learning algorithms.
- Preferred: experience transitioning to an AI-model-enabled hybrid search platform.
- Preferred: business-level English or Japanese communication skills.
