Base Salary
$144k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the aircraft software release process end-to-end, including readiness criteria, release decisions, six-week cadence, versioning, artifact distribution, release notes, and staged fleet rollouts.
- Triage and root-cause issues from flight operations, field testing, and customer deployments across autonomy, controls, avionics interfaces, and ground systems.
- Assess safety and customer impact to determine hotfixes, scheduled releases, documentation, or deferral.
- Fix issues directly or provide subsystem owners with diagnosed problems and attached test cases.
- Own the long-term design direction of several aircraft software subsystems, including logging, telemetry, configuration management, health monitoring, and over-the-air distribution.
- Build and improve hardware-in-the-loop, simulation-based regression, flight-data log-replay, testing, triage, observability, and release-management infrastructure.
- Write production-quality C++17 and Python code and support validation, flight testing, and field testing.
- Work with flight operations to understand field conditions and address recurring sources of engineering interruptions.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional C++ experience for Engineer II or 5+ years for Senior, ideally with C++11 or newer.
- Professional experience with Python.
- Demonstrated ability to debug difficult problems in unfamiliar systems with incomplete data.
- Experience with testing infrastructure, CI/CD, release engineering, or build and distribution systems for software shipped to physical devices.
- Interest in or experience with real-world robotic systems, especially software interacting with hardware.
- Comfort working across low-level systems and user-facing tools.
- Working knowledge of trigonometry and linear algebra.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to California test sites.
