Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and data pipelines for Spotify Rights Center.
  • Collaborate with product, insights, design, and engineering teams to meet the needs of rightsholders.
  • Deliver scalable, testable, and maintainable backend systems with strong operational ownership.
  • Evolve platform architecture to accommodate more licensors and content types.
  • Support timely delivery of technical solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Contribute to modern engineering practices and healthy engineering standards.
  • Integrate with Spotify’s broader content and moderation ecosystem.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture and contribute to product ideation.
  • Grow skills through hands-on work and learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in designing and building distributed, high-volume services in Java or similar languages.
  • Comfortable with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases and data modeling.
  • Ability to support production systems and apply learnings from incidents.
  • Ownership of solutions from scoping to deployment and monitoring.
  • Ensure quality through modern testing, debugging, and automation techniques.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
  • Proactively identify tech debt and prioritize it with the team.
  • Care about software architecture and APIs that connect systems.
  • Excited to learn new problem spaces and prioritize team success.
  • Experience with Bazel, GCP services, and data pipeline tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with rights management or content moderation is a plus.
