  • Develop longitudinal and lateral vehicle control and estimation algorithms.
  • Implement mission-critical real-time C++ software for on-vehicle and embedded automotive systems.
  • Define interfaces between perception, planning, control, and software platform components.
  • Support vehicle driving-function demonstrations from bring-up through customer-facing runs.
  • Build Python and C++ simulation and analysis tools to evaluate planner and controller performance.
  • Define driving quality and safety metrics, analyze field data, and improve the system based on results.
  • Contribute to failure and hazard analyses and implement safety mitigations in planning and control software.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
  • Production-quality coding skills in modern C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with motion planning, decision-making, or vehicle controls in autonomous vehicles, ADAS, or robotic systems.
  • Knowledge of optimization-based planning, search methods, optimal control, model predictive control, or probabilistic decision-making.
  • A solid foundation in linear algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience taking features from design through real-world deployment rather than only building prototypes.
  • Ability to work from the Berkeley, California office at least Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Preferred experience deploying planning or control software on real vehicles, including AVs or ADAS features such as ACC, AEB, lane keeping, or lane changing.
  • Preferred experience with real-time and embedded systems and RTOS.
  • Preferred experience with ML-based planning approaches such as imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or learned cost functions.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonus.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible paid time off and equity.
  • Daily catered lunch and a stocked fridge at the Berkeley office.
  • Hybrid work arrangement requiring office work in Berkeley at least Tuesday through Thursday.
