Base Salary
$90k - $100k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the backend service storing user progress, guides, and survey data, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Lead large cross-team strategic initiatives and turn ambiguous product ideas into technical designs and shipped systems.
- Write and review design documents, explain architectural trade-offs, and coordinate with product, design, mobile, web capture, data management, and infrastructure teams.
- Break approved designs into Jira delivery plans and deliver end to end across infrastructure, backend services, JavaScript guides, and the React-based editor.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, triage issues, debug client and server problems, and occasionally join customer troubleshooting calls.
- Mentor engineers, improve code review and engineering workflows in GitHub, run proofs of concept, and collaborate with staff engineers on company-wide initiatives.
- Use AI tools for design, coding, review, debugging, and test planning while helping shape AI-driven customer features such as content generation and MCP servers.
Requirements
- Production experience designing, building, and operating complex backend systems from architecture through delivery.
- Strong backend engineering skills with experience ideally in PHP or Go; Java and other backend languages are also welcomed.
- Experience writing technical design documents, leading architecture decisions, explaining trade-offs, and mentoring engineers.
- Experience shipping frontend work in JavaScript, ideally with React.
- English fluency for daily collaboration, technical discussions, and documentation with US-based teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Preferred experience includes migrating legacy services to new stacks, building in-app guidance or survey products, or working on real-time client-side experiences.
