Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core Developer Workbench platform components across the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the platform’s technical direction, roadmap, tooling catalog governance, version lifecycle management, evaluations, and deprecation decisions.
- Integrate and enable software engineering tools while improving usability, reliability, onboarding, self-service capabilities, and feedback mechanisms.
- Design and implement standardized, pre-provisioned development environments that enable new hires to become productive within 30 minutes.
- Advance AI-augmented development capabilities including agentic coding tools, code assistants, and automated quality pipelines.
- Instrument the platform with metrics covering developer productivity, satisfaction, adoption, onboarding time, and platform health.
- Collaborate with product owners, platform teams, engineering stakeholders, security teams, and compliance teams.
- Participate in the Software Engineering Guild and promote standard engineering patterns across the organization.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background, ideally including platform engineering, developer tooling, or developer experience products.
- Hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms or internal tooling at enterprise scale.
- Experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code and AI-powered developer tools in regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience with Docker Desktop, Kubernetes, DevContainers, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and developer portals such as Backstage or equivalent tools.
- Experience designing and delivering pre-provisioned, standardized development environments at scale.
- Solid understanding of AWS, Azure, and GCP, including infrastructure automation and cloud-native development patterns.
- Understanding of developer experience principles, software productivity metrics, policy compliance, access controls, and responsible AI usage.
- Ability to use instrumentation, metrics, and feedback mechanisms to drive tool adoption and technical decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC best practices from design through deployment.
- Self-driven approach and comfort working in ambiguous, rapidly evolving technology environments.
