Responsibilities
- Own solution design for Python backend services, APIs, integrations, data-processing components, and cloud-native solutions.
- Define technical architecture, implementation approaches, non-functional requirements, and engineering standards for complex solutions.
- Design secure, scalable, observable, resilient, and maintainable systems aligned with architectural standards.
- Lead small or medium development teams by dividing work, removing blockers, supporting delivery, and maintaining technical quality.
- Review code, challenge design decisions, document architectural trade-offs, and guide implementation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, architects, DevOps, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Mentor Python engineers through code reviews, pairing, practical sessions, reusable guidelines, and community knowledge sharing.
- Design, test, and implement solutions from workshops and pilots through proof-of-concepts and deployment.
- Support R&D teams in identifying and implementing engineering practices and new solutions, including progress reporting and post-implementation reviews.
Requirements
- BTech/MTech or a Master’s in Computer Applications.
- At least 8 years of commercial software engineering experience, including strong Python backend development.
- Very good knowledge of Python, including clean code, typing, testing, packaging, performance fundamentals, and production debugging.
- Experience designing backend services, REST APIs, event-driven components, integrations, or data pipelines and owning technical design decisions.
- Practical AWS and/or Azure cloud experience, including secure, scalable, observable, and cost-aware service design.
- Experience defining or validating performance, security, reliability, observability, and maintainability requirements.
- Experience technically leading developers through code reviews, technical decisions, mentoring, and delivery ownership.
- Strong knowledge of architectural and design patterns, Clean Code, testing practices, and architectural documentation.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, and automated deployments.
- Experience supporting technical communities through mentoring, knowledge sharing, standards, or reusable engineering guidance.
- Preferred experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery, or similar Python ecosystem tools.
- Preferred infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or AWS CDK.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar delivery tooling.
- Preferred experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, S3, Blob Storage, or similar database and storage technologies.
- Preferred experience with distributed systems, messaging, queues, idempotency, retries, failure handling, and frontend awareness.
