Distributed Systems Software Engineer, GovCloud - Senior/Lead

Responsibilities
- Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms on public cloud platforms.
- Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across thousands of compute nodes and multiple data centers.
- Build production-grade software, microservices, and Infrastructure-as-Code using modern engineering practices.
- Use and contribute to open source technologies including Spinnaker and Zookeeper.
- Design systems where AI agents integrate into human workflows and maintain shared system context for reliable AI operation.
- Evaluate human- and AI-generated code for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
- Improve system availability, resilience, and performance while balancing live-site management, feature delivery, and technical debt.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve complex issues and keep services operational.
Requirements
- A related technical degree is required.
- At least 5 years of backend software development experience is required.
- Deep programming knowledge in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
- Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
- Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
- Experience with critical infrastructure services such as monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications.
- Experience with distributed database systems; relational database experience such as PostgreSQL is a plus.
- A genuine AI-first engineering approach and experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor.
- Advanced prompt engineering skills, including writing precise structured prompts and cultivating reliable system context.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen operating on U.S. soil and able to meet applicable customer and government screening standards, including CJIS fingerprint screening.
