Responsibilities
- Design, architect, implement, develop, and test complex software applications for space systems and technologies.
- Write clean, maintainable code and manage changes using version control.
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot software issues, and document configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support to engineering team members.
- Make high-level design decisions affecting program cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Own the product backlog and roadmap, translating business and customer needs into user stories.
- Prioritize features and technical requirements while balancing business value, technical constraints, and resources.
- Bridge technical teams and business stakeholders by communicating product vision, requirements, and trade-offs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree, or a master’s degree plus 6 years of experience.
- Typically 8+ years of related experience.
- Deep expertise in multiple programming languages and software development principles.
- Ability to design, architect, and implement complex software systems.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for the active clearance requirement.
- Preferred experience includes kernel-level programming and Python, C++, and Java ecosystems.
- Preferred experience includes scripting, automation, Agile or Kanban/Scrum development, large-scale software projects, performance profiling, debugging, technical documentation, automated testing, software design patterns, SysML/UML, and static analysis tools.
- Preferred familiarity with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and software development ceremonies.
