Responsibilities
- Architect, design, build, and deploy Roku’s next-generation service mesh and cloud infrastructure.
- Develop deployment solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, and Terraform.
- Investigate new technologies and tools for potential adoption at Roku.
- Build and integrate security into the infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal customers to migrate workloads to Kubernetes and Istio and integrate open-source observability tools.
- Integrate and scale observability solutions with the Observability team.
- Work with the SRE team to maintain service availability and improve onboarding workflows.
- Mentor team members and help define or improve engineering processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience with 8+ years of experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud technologies, including AWS, ECS, and Kubernetes; experience with EKS, GKE, AKS, or another Kubernetes environment is preferred.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure design and automation.
- Experience with Python or another high-level scripting language and Go or another systems programming language.
- Production experience testing and deploying applications using modern CI/CD tools and concepts.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Grafana, and other observability tools.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical project stakeholders.
- Experience integrating AI tools to improve processes and reduce toil is a plus.
- Experience trying or exploring generative AI in professional or personal contexts.
