Responsibilities
- Design, build, and improve Azure platform foundations including landing zones, connectivity, identity, and governance.
- Deliver infrastructure changes using Terraform and/or Bicep and contribute to code reviews, testing, and quality standards.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and Git for repeatable deployments.
- Troubleshoot Azure connectivity, identity, access, compute, and storage issues and assist with patching, upgrades, and incident resolution.
- Implement Azure networking features including VNets, subnets, routing, DNS, Private Endpoints, NSGs, firewalls, VPN, and ExpressRoute connectivity.
- Engineer Azure IaaS and PaaS services including VMs, storage, Key Vault, monitoring, App Services, and Functions.
- Support Azure migrations and modernization activities using tools such as Azure Migrate.
- Produce documentation and runbooks and communicate progress and risks to technical, non-technical, and client stakeholders.
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of networking, DNS, routing, load balancing, certificates, operating-system fundamentals, and their application in Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Azure IaaS and/or PaaS services through commercial work, an internship, apprenticeship, or personal projects.
- Working knowledge of Git, branching, pull requests, automated deployments, and basic CI/CD practices.
- Some exposure to Terraform and/or Bicep and an interest in debugging, testing, and operational readiness.
- Scripting ability in one or more of PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Customer-focused mindset, ability to learn quickly, and clear communication of technical issues and trade-offs.
- Existing UK Government Security Clearance (SC), or eligibility and willingness to undergo the SC vetting process.
- Preferred: production platform support experience including monitoring, incident response, problem management, or change control.
- Preferred: exposure to hybrid connectivity, on-premises environments, Active Directory, DNS, firewalls, proxies, and migration projects.
- Preferred: Azure Migrate experience; Azure certifications such as AZ-900 or AZ-104, or active progress toward them.
- Preferred: experience with Azure Policy, RBAC, Defender for Cloud, Linux, Kubernetes, and secure-by-design practices.
