Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement major C and C++ features for OCI’s virtual networking dataplane, including routing, NAT, network gateways, and security-policy enforcement.
- Own scalable packet-processing components supporting high throughput, low latency, multi-tenancy, and strong tenant isolation.
- Drive performance, scale, stress, load, fault-injection, availability, and failure-recovery testing.
- Design fault-tolerant services with health checks, graceful draining, retries, timeouts, failover, rollback, and recovery mechanisms.
- Define metrics, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, canaries, diagnostic tools, runbooks, and operational automation.
- Investigate complex Linux, networking, performance, and production issues using logs, metrics, traces, packet captures, profilers, and core dumps.
- Build automation and infrastructure-as-code for development, deployment, monitoring, and operations.
- Lead architecture and code reviews, document technical decisions, establish engineering standards, and mentor engineers.
- Coordinate technical delivery across networking, control-plane, infrastructure, security, hardware, operations, and product teams.
- Participate in on-call and lead incident investigations and durable corrective actions for owned components.
Requirements
- At least 11 years of software development experience, or a qualifying bachelor's degree with 7 years, master's degree with 5 years, or doctorate with 3 years of software development experience.
- At least 3 years of academic or professional experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud.
- At least 5 years of system-level testing and automation experience.
- At least 4 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in C/C++ systems design, concurrency, memory management, performance optimization, Linux networking, and distributed systems.
- Experience with high-performance dataplane technologies including DPDK, VirtIO, eBPF/XDP, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, and userspace packet processing.
- Ability to analyze data, develop software test plans, conduct code reviews, use scripting and automation, and apply quality, compliance, and security practices.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, manage complex initiatives, make cross-system tradeoffs, and mentor engineers.
