Responsibilities
- Design and implement major C and C++ features for OCI’s virtual networking dataplane, including routing, NAT, gateways, and security-policy enforcement.
- Own scalable packet-processing components and improve CPU utilization, memory use, concurrency, latency, throughput, and processing efficiency.
- Apply high-performance dataplane technologies including DPDK, VirtIO, Linux networking, eBPF/XDP, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, and userspace packet-processing frameworks.
- Lead performance, scale, stress, load, fault-injection, brownout, failure-recovery, and availability testing.
- Design fault-tolerant services with health checks, graceful draining, retries, timeouts, failover, rollback, and recovery.
- Drive observability through metrics, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, canaries, health checks, diagnostic tools, and operational automation.
- Diagnose complex Linux, networking, performance, and production issues; participate in on-call and lead incident investigations.
- Ensure strong tenant isolation, secure traffic handling, policy enforcement, and compliance with applicable security and change-management requirements.
- Own major platforms end to end from architecture and implementation through deployment, production validation, and ongoing support.
- Lead technical discussions and reviews, mentor engineers, document decisions, and establish reusable engineering standards across teams.
Requirements
- Deep experience with C/C++ systems design, concurrency, memory management, performance optimization, Linux networking, and distributed control-plane integration.
- Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant networking or dataplane systems in a scalable multi-tenant environment.
