Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, maintainability, quality, and technical direction of the PayPal POS iOS app.
- Lead delivery of payment-critical features including Tap to Pay on iPhone, Key In, ProximityReader, reader pairing, entitlement flows, and token and reader configuration.
- Design complex features and refactors and write design documents, decision records, runbooks, and other technical documentation.
- Define standards for architecture, testing, performance, accessibility, release discipline, and observability.
- Run app releases and rollouts and act as the incident lead for iOS issues.
- Review pull requests, mentor engineers, coach engineers at CL5 and below, and lead iOS knowledge transfer from Sweden.
- Partner with backend, product, design, and security teams to deliver safe payment flows.
- Deliver complete solutions across design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four to seven years of iOS development experience and a record of shipping and owning a large production app.
- Deep Swift expertise and strong app architecture, performance, and release management skills.
- Experience with payment or hardware-connected apps, including Tap to Pay on iPhone, EMV and contactless concepts, and Core Bluetooth.
- Knowledge of PCI-aware design, including handling PAN and PIN data, tokens, and entitlement flows.
- Experience leading technical work and mentoring engineers.
- Preferred experience with modular app architectures, accessibility, and migrating apps across identity systems.
- Clear written and spoken English and comfort collaborating across time zones with teams in Bangalore and Sweden.
