Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver secure Android components and foundational platform capabilities for Okta mobile products and public SDKs.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into robust solutions.
- Write unit, functional, and UI tests; participate in code reviews; and maintain high programming and quality standards.
- Optimize applications for speed, scalability, responsiveness, and compatibility across devices and Android versions.
- Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Evaluate technologies and approaches for Linux development and help guide the team’s technical direction.
Requirements
- 5–9 years of professional software development experience.
- Deep Android platform expertise, including developing and maintaining high-quality Android applications with Kotlin.
- Experience building an enterprise or consumer Android product and designing durable, resilient, secure solutions.
- Knowledge of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with identity and access management protocols such as FIDO, U2F, WebAuth, SSO, SAML, Kerberos, OAuth, and Federation.
- Preferred Android security or systems development experience involving root detection, code signing, tamper resistance, PKI, or SafetyNet.
- Preferred knowledge of Mobile Device Management and experience developing public-facing SDKs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
