Responsibilities
- Own and improve the offline calibration stack, including reliability, sensor-suite coverage, repeatability, traceability, and pass/fail criteria.
- Design and build online calibration validation to monitor cross-sensor consistency, detect drift, and integrate with the vehicle safety architecture.
- Contribute to localization and mapping through sensor integration, performance tuning, regression testing, and deployment to new environments.
- Develop calibration health logging, diagnostics, and post-mission analysis tooling.
- Deploy, test, and iterate calibration and localization systems using data from autonomous operations at active airports.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in robotics or autonomous vehicles with hands-on work in sensor calibration, localization, or state estimation.
- Strong practical knowledge of intrinsic, extrinsic, and temporal multi-sensor calibration across LiDARs, IMUs, GNSS, and cameras.
- Experience with non-linear optimization frameworks such as Ceres, GTSAM, and g2o, or filtering approaches such as EKF and UKF.
- Strong C++ skills, including C++17+, and working experience with Linux and ROS/ROS2.
- Understanding of how calibration quality propagates through localization and perception.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: MS or PhD focused on calibration, localization, or state estimation.
- Preferred: experience with online or runtime calibration monitoring, factor graphs, graph-based SLAM, production deployment on real hardware, safety-relevant thresholds, safety monitoring architectures, OpenCV, PCL, or Open3D.
