Responsibilities
- Optimize animation workflows through automation and best-practice definition.
- Collaborate with animation technical directors and supervising animators to optimize scenes, sequences, assets, and workflow complexity.
- Develop and maintain scripts, tools, utilities, and systems for the animation team.
- Work within and understand Imageworks’ proprietary animation pipeline.
- Create training materials related to tools and workflows.
- Support artists with technical issues throughout the production pipeline.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and collaborate with artists and pipeline teams on improvements.
- Communicate progress and production challenges to animation, pipeline, technical supervision, and development leadership.
- Participate in support channels, presentations, and departmental meetings.
- Collaborate with other departments to manage creative and technical dependencies.
Requirements
- Programming experience in Python.
- Good knowledge of Maya.
- Knowledge of Bash, cShell, and Linux.
- Experience with Docker or other software distribution systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Strong interest in visual development, film, animation, and computer graphics.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine and Houdini is an asset.
- C++ experience is an asset.
- Experience with code sharing and revision control is an asset.
- Basic 2D or 3D artistic knowledge or experience is an asset.
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in computing science is an asset.
- A growth mindset, willingness to learn and experiment, openness to feedback, and continuous-improvement orientation.
- Ability to provide a demo reel showing relevant artistic and technical experience.
- Excellent French and English communication skills.
