Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement autonomy software components across edge compute, cloud services, and on-premise systems.
  • Build frameworks, APIs, and services integrating autonomy, controls, perception, and robotics infrastructure.
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable production software and lead code, design, and architecture reviews.
  • Optimize compute, memory, networking, and inter-process performance across diverse environments.
  • Improve system reliability, observability, debuggability, developer experience, test frameworks, and local development tooling.
  • Collaborate with TPMs, systems, autonomy, hardware, field operations, and forward-deployed engineering teams to ensure software works reliably on real machines.
  • Drive root-cause analysis, eliminate recurring defects, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and help define engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
  • Strong coding ability in one or more of Python, C++, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
  • Experience architecting or developing distributed systems, real-time systems, or large-scale production software.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, databases, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Ability to design for reliability, modularity, safety, testability, and maintainability, with strong debugging skills using logs, telemetry, metrics, and tracing tools.
  • Ability to work across hardware/software interfaces and deliver software independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred experience includes robotics, autonomy, perception, controls, mapping, localization, edge computing, ruggedized hardware, Linux systems programming, IPC, networking, real-time constraints, numerical or ML libraries, embedded devices, sensors, firmware, serviceability, and observability.
