- Shape and solution complex agentic AI pursuits across Germany, the Netherlands, and the DACH region from opportunity through delivery.
- Advise C-suite stakeholders, lead AI maturity assessments, identify processes for agentisation, and connect architecture decisions to business value and ROI.
- Define architecture direction and help build production-grade agentic AI systems involving multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval, evaluation, observability, and enterprise integration.
- Integrate agents with SAP, clinical, laboratory, quality, manufacturing, industrial, and legacy enterprise systems using appropriate open interoperability protocols.
- Design sovereign, compliant, secure, and responsible AI solutions for European and German regulated environments.
- Establish reusable patterns for testing, observability, auditability, traceability, safeguards, governance, and production reliability.
- Provide technical and delivery leadership across multidisciplinary programmes while remaining hands-on enough to validate architecture and unblock teams.
- Set technical direction across teams, mentor senior engineers and technical leads, and grow Thoughtworks' German and Dutch agentic AI capability and market presence.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in modern software engineering and Python, with a strong track record setting standards for testing, CI/CD, observability, maintainability, and production reliability.
- Recognised experience architecting and delivering complex GenAI and agentic AI systems at enterprise scale through production deployment.
- Deep knowledge of agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, and LlamaIndex, including orchestration, memory, multi-agent coordination, tool use, MCP, and A2A.
- Strong expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation, advanced information retrieval, vector databases, enterprise knowledge integration, and evaluation strategies for GenAI systems.
- Experience with AI safeguards and secure deployment, including guardrails, red-teaming, prompt-injection protection, data-leakage prevention, and tool-misuse controls.
- Significant experience deploying AI systems on major cloud platforms using production-grade infrastructure, including sovereign cloud, hybrid, on-premises, or self-hosted open-weight model environments.
- Experience with prompt and context engineering, appropriate fine-tuning, model adaptation, and application-level performance optimisation.
- Working knowledge of the EU AI Act, GDPR, GxP, GAMP 5, EU MDR/IVDR, EHDS, DORA, NIS2, and BaFin requirements as they affect AI system design.
- Strongly preferred experience delivering AI in healthcare or life sciences; experience integrating with SAP and industrial or manufacturing systems is desirable.
- Proven ability to lead C-suite and senior client engagements and shape, sell, and deliver complex data and AI deals, including deals of €5M or more and an annual target of €10M or more in total contract value.
- Recent consultancy or professional-services experience, ideally with German, Dutch, or DACH enterprise clients, plus experience growing a practice, capability, or reusable go-to-market asset.
- Proven leadership across multidisciplinary delivery teams, ability to influence without formal authority, and experience mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders.
- Experience navigating German works councils, data protection officers, procurement, and other stakeholder structures.
- German at B2 minimum, with C1 strongly preferred, and fluent English.
