Responsibilities
- Own backend features from product requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Design and build Rust backend services, REST APIs, data models, database schemas, and service-to-service integrations.
- Research and integrate cloud providers, enterprise platforms, APIs, SDKs, and other technologies.
- Create technical designs and architectural changes addressing scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Identify and resolve production performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, architectural limitations, and complex technical issues.
- Perform unit, integration, CI/CD, deployment, validation, performance, and production-readiness activities.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on requirements, trade-offs, code reviews, design reviews, and architecture.
- Support customers and internal teams with complex technical issues and product improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Rust, C++, or Go; production Rust experience is preferred.
- Experience building production backend services and microservices.
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, API contracts, integrations, and service-to-service communication.
- Experience designing database schemas and data models and working with application data-access layers.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, SDKs, cloud services, or enterprise platforms.
- Ability to research ambiguous technical requirements and produce practical technical designs and implementation plans.
- Experience diagnosing performance and scalability problems and debugging complex issues across multiple components or services.
- Experience owning software through design, implementation, testing, deployment, validation, and ongoing support.
- Ability to work effectively with Product Management and distributed engineering teams.
- Helpful qualifications include Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native deployments, AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, Alibaba Cloud, cybersecurity, cryptography, key management, certificate management, observability, and high-growth product experience.
