Responsibilities
- Develop enterprise-wide fine-grained traffic control.
- Use a centralized management plane to manage policies and configurations.
- Secure inter-service communication with mTLS encryption, identity-based authentication, and authorization.
- Build Service Mesh components in collaboration with the Gateway Services team.
- Design and implement backend APIs using REST, Hibernate, Java, and SpringBoot.
- Develop infrastructure components using Go.
- Architect workload and service management infrastructure and deliver critical infrastructure components.
- Build scalable, reliable, and efficient platform services for Coupang.
- Investigate critical system issues, address root causes, and improve operational excellence.
- Collaborate with technical leaders and platform teams to make services extensible.
Requirements
- 13+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience designing and implementing traffic management solutions that handle requests at scale.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Excellent development skills in Go, Java, or Python with a track record of delivering mission-critical systems.
- Experience with cloud computing using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong experience designing and implementing Service Mesh features with Istio or Envoy is preferred.
- Deep understanding of virtual networks, route tables, subnets, and gateways is preferred.
- Deep understanding of modern web application architecture and high-performance, high-scale API design patterns is preferred.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and lead delivery of large-scale services for complex business offerings is preferred.
