Responsibilities
- Build Service Mesh components and critical workload and service management infrastructure.
- Design and implement enterprise-wide fine-grained traffic control and centralized policy and configuration management.
- Secure inter-service communication using mTLS encryption, identity-based authentication, and authorization.
- Develop backend APIs using REST, Hibernate, Java, and Spring Boot, plus infrastructure components using Go.
- Design scalable distributed systems supporting service discovery, load balancing, traffic resiliency, failure recovery, and observability.
- Investigate critical system issues, address root causes, and drive engineering and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with platform teams and technical leaders to deliver extensible large-scale services.
Requirements
- 13+ years of professional software development experience.
- At least four years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience designing and implementing traffic-management solutions for requests at scale.
- Excellent development skills in Go, Java, and Python, with experience delivering mission-critical systems.
- Experience with cloud computing using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Preferred experience designing and implementing Service Mesh features with Istio and Envoy.
- Deep understanding of virtual networks, route tables, subnets, gateways, modern web-application architecture, and high-performance API design patterns.
- Ability to lead delivery of large-scale services while managing competing priorities.
