Base Salary
$136k - $161k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to cloud storage feature initiatives by collaborating with product and engineering teams on roadmap execution.
- Write sustainable software and design documentation for storage infrastructure.
- Qualify and roll out software across the stack from bare metal to user-facing APIs.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design processes, design reviews, code reviews, and implementation tasks.
- Collaborate with engineers to support teamwork and continuous learning.
- Participate in cross-organizational initiatives such as tech talks, open-source development, and book clubs.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale, complex distributed cloud computing infrastructure products.
- Experience with redundant and fault-tolerant storage solutions, including backups, replication, encryption, and data protection mechanisms, is preferred.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices across coding, design reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
- Experience with at least one application programming language such as Java or Go.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform.
- Knowledge of Linux systems internals and computer architecture.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Bonus: experience with NVMe, SSDs, distributed storage systems, and block, object, or file storage.
- Bonus: familiarity with NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe-oF storage protocols.
- Bonus: open-source contributions to projects such as Ceph, GlusterFS, or OpenEBS.
- Bonus: systems programming experience with C, C++, or Rust.
- Bonus: understanding of physical and software-defined networking concepts.
- Bonus: advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
