Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, secure, fault-tolerant distributed systems within an event-driven microservices architecture.
- Own backend service architecture and create reusable services, APIs, and shared components for internal developers.
- Translate product requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with Product, Design, Quality, and Data teams.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle, including design, estimation, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Write clean, robust, well-tested code while reducing technical debt and applying established design patterns.
- Guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers through code reviews, and support production incidents.
- Integrate AI-assisted development tools into engineering workflows and help the team adopt effective practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support production systems.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of backend or full-stack development experience designing and building scalable, reliable backend systems.
- Proven experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and S3.
- Strong experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies such as Kafka, SQS, and SNS.
- Strong system design expertise and hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting production systems.
- Strong understanding of clean-code principles, backend design patterns, automated unit and integration testing, and CI/CD pipeline improvement.
- Proficiency with Git and modern collaboration workflows.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools in software workflows, including the ability to explain their benefits, limitations, and lessons learned.
- Experience with PHP, Serverless Framework, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, Protobuf, gRPC, or Go is nice to have.
- Experience supporting mobile applications, shared platforms, organization-wide technical initiatives, large-scale distributed systems, or open-source libraries is nice to have.
